Reflection

Unit Reflection Guidelines:

You will do a total of 6 Unit Reflections (URs) for the semester. Each UR must follow MLA format and should be 2-3 pages in length.

Respond thoroughly and completely to each of the prompts below, using specific details and examples to support your statements. You may use a variety of resources available to you to help you write your UR (textbook and other readings, lecture notes, in-class activities and discussions, online research from credible sites or databases, etc.).

UR Prompts:

· Key Themes: What theme(s) emerged from this unit? What was the historical context for the literature in this unit? In other words, what was going on in the country socially and politically that formed and shaped the literature from this time period?

· Key Terms/Concepts: Define and give examples of terms and concepts covered in this unit.

· Acts of Oppression/Acts of Resistance: What were the acts of oppression and acts of resistance discussed during this unit? How did the authors in this unit use literature as a political tool?

· Author Analysis: Compare and contrast at least two of the authors we studied in this unit. What were their similarities and differences?

· Personal Reflection: What were some take-aways for you? In other words, what did you learn that you never knew or understood before? Which readings struck a chord with you and why?
