Compare and contrast the different styles of service within your chosen two establishments with the following questions in mind:

How does the style of service add to or take away from the dining experience?
What changes would you make and why?
How could you make it better?

Hotel Front Office

Choose a small-, medium-, or large-sized lodging property.

Design an organization chart outlining the structure of the hotel’s front office employees. Front office responsibilities vary according to the size and type of lodging property.

Create an organization chart in Microsoft® Word 2003 by following these steps:

• Go to the Insert menu.
• Select Picture.
• Select Organization Chart.

Create an organization chart in Microsoft® Word 2007 by following these steps:

• Go to the Insert tab.
• Select the Illustrations group.
• Select SmartArt.
• Go to the Choose a SmartArt Graphic gallery.
• Select Hierarchy.
• Select an organization chart layout.

Answer the following questions in 700 to 1,050 words:

• How is a front office important to a hotel?
• Which department is most important to the success of the front office and why?
• How might the front office in a small- or medium-size hotel differ from the front office in a large-size hotel?
• What front office functions do all three sized properties share?
• Compare the duties of the front offices of a roadside budget motel and a center-city luxury hotel. What commonalities do these front offices share? What are the most obvious differences? You may use actual hotels as examples in your paper.
