Organizational Ethics

Select an organization you work for or one in your chosen field.

Conduct online research on the ethics of your organization and the industry it belongs to.

Write a 750- to 1,050-word paper describing how ethical principles can address organizational issues. Include the organization you selected and discuss the following with regards to that organization and its industry:

• What role do external social pressures have in influencing organizational ethics?
• How might these issues be relevant to organizational and personal decisions?
• What is the relationship between legal and ethical issues?

Organizational Social Responsibility

Read the online article by Milton Friedman entitled “The Social Responsibility of Business is to Increase its Profits.”  After carefully reading this article address in detail the following questions in a comprehensive written assignment.

a)      Clearly identify and discuss your understanding of Friedman’s major premises and the arguments in support of his positions.

b)     Clearly address your agreement/disagreement with Friedman’s arguments providing supporting reasons for your position. You might want to consider opposing arguments by leading authors in rebuttal to Friedman’s position.

c)     If you disagree with Friedman’s position and arguments, what specifically are the social responsibilities of business?  Explain your response in detail.

d)     I contrast to businesses, identify and discuss three social responsibilities that individuals owe to society.
