Multicultural Analysis

Resources: University of Phoenix Library, Culturegrams database, course materials, and government resources on ethnic groups.

Part I: Select and identify four groups based on country of origin (ex. Mexican, Chinese, Irish, etc.), and DO NOT use pan-ethnic categories like Hispanic, Asian, etc. Go to the Phoenix library and research the group. Write a paragraph on each group (200-300 words) and describe the history of them in the United States, their population in the US, what are some of their attitudes and practices, and what is something you admire about this group’ people, lifestyle or society. Be sure to include in-text citations for your sources.

Part II: Summarize what you learned from Part 1 in a 500- to 700-word analysis of the advantages of a multicultural society and labor force. Use the following questions to guide your writing:

How has U.S. society used each group’s culture to construct the group identity? How has each group been stereotyped? How accurate are these stereotypes?

How does the social concept of race relate to each group? What prejudice has each group faced?

How do the behavior and thinking patterns of U.S. culture apply to each group, especially regarding class systems and employment?

Part III: List all of the references you used for this assignment

Format your analysis according to appropriate course-level APA guidelines, which includes in-text citations and a works cited list of references.
