Effects of Globalization

The environments of nonprofits and non-governmental organizations have been changing rapidly. It might be hard to believe that most nonprofits and non-governmental organizations worldwide have started within the past 30 years! The world has not stood still, either, since they have started. Globalization is impacting every aspect of our lives and, certainly, organizations. The American Red Cross is an example of an organization that globalization has allowed to provide services in other parts of the world. The American Red Cross is part of the world’s largest humanitarian network with 13 million volunteers in 187 countries. Each year, an average of more than 100 million people across the globe is reached.

To prepare for this Discussion, review the Learning Resources. Think about how things have changed in the field over time.

By Day 4

Post your definition of the term globalization in relation to the nonprofit or non-governmental organization environments. Then, provide an analysis of how globalization in the past 50 years affected nonprofits and non-governmental organizations in the United States (or your country of residence) and throughout the world. Consider legal, contracting, social change, and leadership aspects.
