Draft Research Questions and Hypotheses

Draft Research Questions and Hypotheses

Submit draft research questions—and hypotheses where appropriate—developed from your problem and purpose statements.

Note. The questions should be sufficiently complex and original so that the findings could contribute to the existing body of knowledge in the field. These drafts will be finalized for use in the Concept Paper Draft assignment due in Week Eight.

Revise your purpose statements drawing on feedback from your facilitator and peers. When you post the draft research questions and hypotheses, you must also include the revised problem and purpose statements so it is possible to clearly see the connection. These research questions must be based on the problem statements and purpose statements you developed in previous weeks.

Post your research questions—and hypotheses where appropriate—as a discussion thread for peer feedback and suggestions for improvement. Be sure to review your fellow peer’s statements as well and provide constructive comments.

Follow this format when submitting the components to your facilitator:

  • Revised Quantitative Problem Statement
  • Revised Quantitative Purpose Statement
  • At least one quantitative research question, with associated null and alternative
  • Hypotheses
  • Revised Qualitative Problem Statement
  • Qualitative Purpose Statement
  • At least one qualitative research question

    Draft Purpose Statements

Submit two draft purpose statements that reflect the problem statements prepared during Weeks Three and Four, one for a qualitative study and the other for a quantitative study.

Include the research method, research design, variables, population, and geographical location. These drafts will be finalized for use in the Concept Paper Draft assignment due in Week Eight.

Note. These purpose statements must be based on the revised problem statements you developed for Week Four. Drawing on feedback from your facilitator and peers for revised problem statements, make any adjustments needed. When you post the purpose statements, you must also include the revised problem statements so it is possible to clearly see the connection.

Post your draft purpose statements as a discussion thread for peer feedback and suggestions for improvement. Be sure to review your fellow peer’s statements and provide constructive comments.
